Can foreigners acquire a membership in Club Quinta Real Huatulco?
Yes. After local laws were amended in 1993, foreign owners were able to acquire property on the Mexican coastline through a bank trust, a legal substitute for a conventional purchase/sale agreement. As trust beneficiary, each owner has the right to use, sell, transfer or bequeath the property in perpetuity; the trust has a 50-year period of renewal. Under this formula, many American and Canadian citizens now own properties on Mexico's coast.
Can I re-sell my Membership in Club Quinta Real?
Yes. Like any other property, your Membership can be sold or transferred, provided it is done in keeping with the rules and the trustee's (member's) rights.
What makes Club Quinta Real different from a Timeshare?
There are a lot of features that distinguish it. In Timeshare, for example, you own one or more specific weeks, and your lodging possibilities are limited to a given unit or category.
In contrast, Members of Club Quinta Real own at least a one-twelfth share of a villa, and have access to all residences similar to their own, as well as hotel services. At the moment, Club Quinta Real is the only concept of this type in Mexico, and, like other Star ClubsTM, Club Quinta Real handles its memberships similar to the way a country club works--only you reserve your villa instead of your hours on the golf course.
As a Member, can I use the club as often as I want?
Yes, as often as you want. This is because there are no limitations on the use of your villa (provided you abide by Club policies and procedures). You can make your reservations in advance or just before you want to travel, if there is space available. Every year, Members reserve 21 days of vacation in advance, which allows for additional available space. Then, if some Members use the Club less, others can use it for more time.
When I reserve, will I always get the same villa?
To make your Membership more flexible, Members own a share of a specific villa, but have access to all the villas in the Club that are similar to their own. In any case, you can also request a specific villa when it is possible according to the Club's reservation policies and procedures.
What happens when the number of Members that want to use the Club in a certain vacation period exceeds the number of villas available?
Club Quinta Real was designed with this in mind. In peak season, the villas are assigned in the order in which the reservations are received. Our "Equires" system guarantees that all the Members have the same possibilities for access in peak season.
